Mayfair Denver Real Estate
The Mayfair Denver neighborhood is an eclectic area overlapping sections of Montclair and Hilltop. Bordered on the west by Eudora Street, the east by Monaco Parkway, the south by 6th Avenue Parkway and the north by East Colfax Avenue, Mayfair runs the architectural slide-rule from Tudor and neo-eclectic mansions to classic ranches, bungalows, high-rise apartment buildings, duplexes and condo communities. On the eastern end it’s defined by small Tudors and bungalows near Colfax and then ranches, neo-eclectic and contemporary mansions near 6th. The western end has the same basic dynamic with knots of cookie-cutter condos and a high-rise apartment bordering the park, then colonial-style townhomes, duplexes and ranch-style apartments hugging the Mayfair Plaza shopping area.
Although Mayfair Denver real estate for sale usually comes in the form of singe-family homes, in addition to the duplexes and townhomes there are some older brick apartment buildings and ranch-style apartments closer to Colfax. Aesthetically, the neighborhood is as varied as its architecture. In the north there are mature trees and thick plots of grass between the street and the wide sidewalks, while the south has smaller to mid-sized trees with thinner sidewalks hugging the street. Homes for sale in Mayfair are listed with the zip code of 80220.
The Mayfair Denver neighborhood is filled with everything from a centerpiece park to a bustling shopping district. Starting in the north, Colfax boasts a string of refined and funky stores such as the rustic Cork House and the slick The Elm in addition to fast-food, the ever present Starbucks and a Rite Aide. However, the Mayfair Plaza on the corner of 14th and Krameria Streets is the retail heartbeat of the neighborhood. Being centrally located and with a Safeway grocery store as well as liquor stores, pizza shops and a gas station, this section of the neighborhood is ideal for basic necessities.
For more high-end shopping, the boutique and salon mecca of Cherry Creek is no more than a ten minute car ride down 6th. A jewel in the center of the neighborhood, Mayfair Park is a wonderful, dog-friendly spot of green with a large playground and a half basketball court. Colfax and 6th are major thoroughfares leading to I-25, while a few blocks to the east Quebec Street leads to I-70.
There is a decent amount of new single family construction happening in the south, closer to 6th. Neo-eclectic and contemporary mansions are popping up all around the ranches and small Tudors currently defining the southern part of the neighborhood. Although there are often one or two projects on most blocks, it all seems to be single-family construction with no new apartments, condos or townhomes projected for the future.
